Not only did I find Women Who Could…and Did stimulating as I indexed it,
but I purchased copies to send to several young women in my life, including
a teenage granddaughter. My granddaughter and the others have had the advantage
of living during a time when women are supposed to be able to have both
a satisfying career and a home and family. Reading about the 26 women who
achieved amazing goals during a time that women were still considered to
be second-class citizens, however, allows today’s young women to realize fully what their potential
truly is. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a counselor to guide
her as a role model, but the women Dr. Kitaj describes can indeed serve
as “paper mentors”.
